2011 ACBS Annual Meeting and International Boat Show

Post by mattbyrne » Mon May 09, 2011 1:04 pm

Registration for the 2011 ACBS Meeting and Show is now open !

We invite everyone to join us celebrating the ACBS’s 36th Annual Meeting and Boat Show. This Grand and Glorious adventure will kick-off with pre-events in Chicago September 19-20 and move to Lake Geneva September 21–24, and finish with unique post-show events September 25. Hosted by the Blackhawk and Glacier Lakes Chapters, this tale of two cities promises to be an once-in-a lifetime event. From the fabulous Chicago skyline to the elegant shores of Geneva Lake an amazing experience awaits you. Rekindle old friendships and relish in making new ones while enjoying the events in one or both cities. If shopping is your thing, you don’t want to miss Chicago’s Water Tower Place and the “Magnificent Mile” or the boutique shops in downtown Lake Geneva. Most importantly, there is the boating and the beautiful lakes – the Native Americans called Lake Michigan Mish-i-gama (the large lake) and Geneva was called Kish-wa-kee-toe (the lake of the clear water). Feasts for the eyes while on the water in Chicago include architectural highlights along the river and the city’s extraordinary lake front, while at Lake Geneva, breathtaking fall colors and the palatial estates on the shores of Geneva Lake await. Delight in the opportunity to ride aboard the historic turn-of-the-nineteenth century yachts. Don’t miss the camaraderie of ACBS meetings and banquets. With over 150 of the finest boats from the US and Canada, the boat show Friday and Saturday will be spectacular; a visual treat you will long remember.

For a preview of the many activities that await, please check the show web site: www.grandandglorious2011.com

There are two separate registrations for the events. The first form is for pre events hosted by the Blackhawk Chapter and the second form is for the ACBS International Show and Meeting.

Special notes:

The Abbey Resort is filling up quickly, over 50% booked as of today.
Space is limited and the boat show will fill up quickly.

We look forward to see you all at this event !

I'm really hoping to come. I wish I could bring my boat, but that will prove to be impossible.

A little birdy told me that a restored "Helen-A" will be making an appearance....

If your planning to attend the ACBS International and want to stay at the host hotel, book now. The on-line five month advance booking rate for one person, for a three night stay will set you back $800.00.

Mark,

Your little bird is correct. Helen A will be at the show as well as a few other Lake Geneva boats that rarely make it boat shows.

I got some rooms at the Abbey reserved back in October for $167 each per night. They must have raised their prices since.

An update on the room rates at the Abbey Resort during the ACBS International event.

I called The Abbey Resort and gave them my ACBS Membership number at it reduced the rate from $800.00 to $600.00 for the three night stay. So for anyone who is planning to make a reservation at the resort, have your membership number ready to get the reduced rate for the show.

Reg,
If you don't find anything suitable I'm about 25 miles away. I can put you in the guest room.
