Vintage Race Boat Shop Newsletter !!!

Post by Bill John » Fri Oct 07, 2011 6:22 pm

Good afternoon Gang,

Our awesome summer season has passed and we are now enjoying a very warm,
sunny and picturesque fall season here in beautiful Wolfeboro. We had a busy
summer promoting, supporting and participating at events on the Vintage Circuit.
Lots of fun, and we have also been busy updating our Websites with lots of photos
and recaps of all the summer fun at boat shows, regattas, and vintage gatherings. The
fall foliage is now in full bloom here on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee and to celebrate
this kaleidoscope of color, tomorrow is our Annual Fall Foliage Cruise.

Two Fall Vintage Events - you don't want to miss

Annual Fall Foliage Cruise - October 8, 2011 - tomorrow !!!
George Johnson started our fall foliage cruises many years ago, and our local ACBS
chapter has continued this tradition of our annual trek. This is a Fall gathering of our
local ACBS membership, and a celebration of our beautiful wooden boats. The route
will depend on weather and water conditions, and all are welcome to join our entourage,
with or without a boat as we always have plenty of seats. Tomorrow's forecast is calling
for sunshine, temps in the 80's and flat water. It's going be an awesome day on beautiful
Lake Winnipesaukee, so bring your sunscreen and please join us. We will be gathering at
the Wolfeboro town docks at 9 am for a 3 hour cruise and will return to Wolfeboro around
noon - for lunch and a pizza party at Barbara Naramore's Wolfe City Brick Oven Pizza.

5th Annual Roar & Soar Classic Race Boat Regatta - November 12-13, 2011
Experience high-energy excitement at the 5th annual gathering of classic racing machines
at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. Thrills from Land, Sea and Air combine with
awesome food, entertainment and the world's greatest aviation attraction for an outing
that every member of the family will enjoy. Get Your Speed On at the sanctioned slalom
course plus a car show featuring rare, antique, classic and exotic vehicles. Check out
some of the most unique vehicles ever made. The shores of Lake Agnes will also feature
the Annual Roar & Soar Vintage Race Boat Regatta, with well over 75 classic race boats
running some pretty hot laps on a 1 mile course, all day Saturday and Sunday. And some
of the hottest vintage aircraft in the world will roar into the skies throughout the day. Giant
scale radio control aircraft, powered paragliders and hang glider pilots will also be soaring.

The 2011 Vintage Circuit - thank you to all the many volunteers !!!

It is important to remember that these vintage events are really social events, and
every event is actually a reunion and gathering of good friends, with our beautiful
vintage boats in the background, pulling us together. All are welcome to come join
the fun, with or without a boat. We hope you will consider joining these very active
organizations, and please be considerate and register early for their events. This lets
the volunteer organizers know you are planning to attend, enabling them to properly
plan for the boat count for the show/regatta, and the head count for the socials.
Please register early and remember - they all need more volunteers !!!

APBA Summer Vintage Race Boat Circuit
Many thanks to Doug Whitley and his crew at the APBA Vintage & Historic Division.
Our first APBA sanctioned vintage race boat regatta was at Clayton, New York in 1992,
where we got a chance to run our beloved vintage race boats on an actual race course,
running some pretty hot laps. Since then, in the spirit of Gar Wood and Orlin Johnson,
we have run our Gar Wood Speedster Obsession on the APBA Vintage Race Boat Circuit.

CRA Winter Vintage Race Boat Circuit
Many thanks to Dick Whyte and his crew at the Classic Race Boat Association. The CRA
is a Florida based organization that was formed to facilitate the exhibition of classic race
boats of all types from the early 1900’s to the 1980’s. All classic race boats are welcomed,
and during the winter months when the APBA vintage circuit is in hibernation, we haul
My Precious down to sunny and warm Florida to participate in a growing CRA winter circuit.
