Inside bottompaint

Post by kmuleadams » Fri Oct 28, 2016 8:17 am

Looking at my bottom I see areas of bare wood. This winter I would like to repaint this area and wondering what paint would give the best protection for the wood and against possible wood rot. Do most of paint the interior with a red color or would something else be appropriate.

Thanks in advance for the advice! :D

There is international danboline or epifanes also have a bilge paint. Think they come in grey or red color.

I use this. As with any paint the surface you are painting must be clean and dry.

I would use the Sandusky paint also. www.sanpaco.com
Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.

All my experience is with INTERLUX BILGE PAINT. They say that red is better but I am unsure why. I think the color red makes it difficult for insects to live in also. Something about the red color filtering UV light which molds and such need to grow. A good washing and let it dry well before painting is always a good idea. The paint will protect the wood and allow the wood to breathe as well. Plus it looks much better down there too.
