Have a 1956 "Bull Nose" Continental. Have soft 2'x8' section just below rub rail on bull nose section. Understand it's nearly impossible to get Phillipine Mahogany to do a replacement repair. Any suggestions

Use whatever is the best mahogany type wood available to you. It’s above the water line and painted. Consider moisture content when fitting a repair piece against existing. Good Luck!

I hope that is a typo and you meant 2"x8" instead of feet. If it is feet that would be about 1/4 of the side. Even if it is inches that is a tough repair. You could cut out a nice rectangle to remove the rot plus a little more and then cut a "dutchman" out of a piece of mahogany to fill the hole. The trouble is that you have nothing to really attach it to underneath. There is also a good bend there. You might be able to fit an oversized shaped backing block behind the hole and then glue in the dutchman leaving it slightly proud so that you can sand it flush with the rest of the plank. This is not a highly visible spot and any type of mahogany of a similar grain pattern would work.
If you are going for show quality, forget all this and replace the plank. This is one of the most difficult planks to replace in all of the Chris-Crafts because of the bend and the shape.
