Recaulking top sides

Post by MikeN » Tue May 09, 2006 7:04 pm

I am in need of info on how to and what products to use when recaulking the top sides on a 1939 33' CC cruiser. The boat was moved from Minnesota (65% humidity) to Colorado (35% humidity) in 2002. It will return to MN in approximately 2009. It has been out of the water for 5 years.
The gaps to be caulked between the original planks are from 1/8" to 1/4". If this reswells in CO water or in MN's humidity and water, how do I determine how much and what type of caulk to use so as not to damage planks and frame when it reswells?

Thanks!
Mike N.
