The picture below shows a burned area on port topside plank. The burn area seems to be located behind the fuse panel mounted just forward of the dash. Approx 11/2" square and 1/4" deep. Any suggestions how this spot might be repaired? I do not want to replace the entire plank.
Thanks for any help!

Re: How to repair burned spot on hull?
If it was burned from the backside, it's probably burned all the way through. Use a router or hole saw to remove the burnt wood and replace with a wooden plug, try to match color and grain as close as possible. Will just look like a large bung. I made one for a 1" thru-hull fitting once, barely noticeable.

I assume that hole is between the windscreen and the lifting ring. I have used Chad's idea in the past. If that won't work, maybe something like a horn or spotlight to cover the hole.

You can get a forster bit a little bigger then the hole you want to fix. Fuller makes bung cutter in all sizes. Using the forstner bit drill about half way through then glue the bung in. Cut it down and sand. Or you can carefully chisel out the area in a square or rectangle shape make a dutchman to fit and glue it in.

Re: How to repair burned spot on hull?
Thanks. I was able to remove the burned area and get it shaped as shown. Made plug from mahogany with similar grain, glue using resin glue mixed with sanding dust, backed plug up with backing board bedded in 5200, faired, sanded and stained. Can barely see the fix. Thanks for the suggestions. Very pleased.
