Coming along nice Matt, really nice.
Funny, you mention the fairing, I've been going to a gym for exercise most of my adult life, when it came time to complete the fairing on my boat there was no need for the gym it was one hell of a work out. :)

Matt,

That is one good looking replica going together! What engine will you be using?

Matt, now that the other Matt, of woody boater fame, has acquired a special race boat, I thought it would be interesting to find out how you are coming on your replica. There is a lot of interest in your neat project. Thanks.

The boat is currently back in Michigan at the Wooden Runabout Company for some final varnish, upholstery and few other things. Once that is finished, its back home for final assembly. I hope to hit the water beginning of September.

Thanks, Matt, looks great. One question, i see woody boater matt's came with the s-w 4 gauge panel. I know you are doing a few things to suit your fancy, rather than slavishly copying the original. wonder if putting in the 6 gauge panel was one of them or perhaps some came with the 4 and others the 6? thanks.

I'm not sure exactly, but Matt Smith's boat is 16 footer. I know some, if not all, of the 19 foot boat came with the six gauge panel I'm using. The only difference is it should have the cracked ice finished rather than the black crackle finish I have. Here is a pic of one of the original 1936 boats with the 6 gauge panel and steering wheel in the center of dash!

Well the boat is finally finished! I launched it for the first time last week for the Geneva Lakes Boat show. Thanks to the Wooden Runabout Company for putting in some extra time and getting it to the finish line. This boat is a blast to drive.

Now the bad news, it looks like I do have one major issue, I found a lot of oil in bilge, so engine may be coming back out.

Way to go Matt, it's beautiful and sounds great also.

Had to change the engine out in my boat already also, hopefully yours is nothing serious. :(

be sure you eliminate tranny oil as the problem.....know you already must have...but always worth a second look before pulling the engine....
