Need a small amount of Mahogany

Post by Mark Christensen » Fri May 01, 2015 10:09 am

I have a '61 24' Sportsman that I'm redoing the hatch on. The wood is shot. I only need some 5/4" mahogany. I need to assemble a 22" diameter circle. Does anyone have some scrap laying around that I could glue up into my porthole? I would pay for shipping and the mahogany. I just don't have any scraps to satisfy what I need.

You could try a chain of Woodworker stores called Woodcraft (http://www.woodcraft.com/Stores/Default.aspx) if there is one near you. My local store sells lots of wood types by the single board including the mahagonys and sapele. Likely a bit pricey, but you can buy small amounts.

The shop produces a lot of scrap every winter , a pile that is used to fire the maple syrup boiler every spring. We can supply the needed scrap in 8 months of so , if you can wait. Otherwise full lumber is available in the shed.
