Kit Boat Sailboat Value

Post by Dutch Van Putten » Mon Nov 27, 2017 2:52 pm

The Holland Museum in Holland, Michigan has received a complete 1951 8-foot Chris-Craft kit sailboat in very good condition. I have offered to help the donor, the original owner, to find a price she can use for her taxes. Any thoughts on a ball park figure that I can tell her?

Looking forward to your reply.

Kit boat values are tough, they were the least expensive boat that Chris Craft produced and the real determining factor is the skill level of the builder. They also had no hull numbers or factory records. As these were designed for amateur builders, the build quality varied widely. I'm no surveyor or insurance claim adjuster, but I cannot believe it would sell for more than $1,000.00 on a good day.
