What Insurance is Required?

I am relatively new to the boating world. Have just about completed restoration of a 1952 Riviera and I am wondering what insurance is required for the tow vehicle / car (if any in addition to normal policy), trailer, and boat. Ituitively it seems that an insurance company is taking on more risk if a car (or truck) is towing a trailer. Is there an additional cost? How about the trailer, is that insured separately from the car and boat?
Thanks in advance for any insight.

As far as I know, when towing your auto policy covers liability. Your boat policy covers physical loss of the boat and trailer. Depending on how your policy is written. Check w/ your agent.

If you have Hagerty insurance, the trailer is insured seperately from the boat.

Call you auto insurance company and find out what they cover first.

Mine added my trailer to the policy at no cost.

Thanks everyone. That gives me some initial clarity. I'll find out what my normal auto insurance covers and add on from there.

Yes, Captain Nemo is on point with his response! Should you wish to discuss further, please reach out to our marine team at 800-762-2628. Hoping you are allowing Hagerty the privilege of protecting the insurance needs for your classic boat! Thank you.
