I don't know total number of cruisers Chris Craft made, but according to http://www.chris-craft.org/wiki/index.p ... stellation, the Constellation production peaked in 1961 with 1090 built and then whittled down to a few in 1973.

Sorry for any delay in keeping up to date.

Here I sit on July 13th. Things have been progressing, but there have been SNAFU's as always that are extending things.

The shifters are shimmed, reverse gears have new pins and bushings and are all back together, and the Port engine (that was in a box at one time) is back together with new .020 under main bearings and new standard rod bearings. We ran her and she sounds good.

AB was moved back to Edgecomb Boat Works last Monday to have the engines installed and some other finish work done. (I was able to escort the transport) :D

Last Wednesday my Mother in Law went into the hospital in Hartford Ct. for the second time in two weeks and since the port engine is still in the back of my pickup waiting for some paint EBW was not been able to place it into the hull of AB. At this time there is a chance that the engines will get installed and she may go back into storage as the extra pressures may be more than I want to deal with all at once.

I have some pics that I will try and post soon.

Peter,

What did this cost to construct? I'm wondering if it'd be feasible to alter this to work over my slip?

Making progress once again! :D

I am sorry to say my Mother in Law, Patricia F. Johnson, passed on July 18th. We were very blessed as Sandi and two of her sisters got to be with her every day for the last two weeks as she fought to stay with us. Their fourth sister was also there frequently.

American Beauty is back in the shop. It has been challenging for Mike and the gang at Edgecomb Boat Works as I have been so scattered and have had parts they needed that they were not sure if I had or not.

At this point many people are asking me why I would bother to still attempt to launch this late in the season, but I have explained that I want to do some "shake down" cruising so that I know what needs to be addressed this winter. I don't want to find out about major problems next spring.

At this time we are hoping to launch some time between August 15th and August 22nd. That is coming up very quickly and I am getting nervous.

Troy,

So sorry to hear of your Mother-in-law's passing. Glad to hear that her family was able to be with her at the end. I'm sure that was a blessing for all.

I completely understand your desire to launch American Beauty yet this year and get the shakedown cruise behind you. Hope that it happens as you'd like. She certainly is a beauty and aptly named! Be sure and post pics or better yet a video of her launch!

THANK YOU GUYS!

I must say the words "done and finished" have been removed from my vocabulary.
Even though American Beauty has come such a long way I realize how much more needs to be accomplished.

I am sitting here at 6AM on Saturday August 23rd (my son's 25th birthday by the way) anticipating the launch we are planning for on Monday. High tide is around Noon so that is our target. I would love to soak her up in a set of slings but it is not very feasible with 10' tides, so I am prepared with extra pumps just in case she is slow to swell. I am also spray soaking her over the weekend just to get a start on it.

I will update you as soon as I am able.

Thanks guys!

I think the commentary really makes them. :D

And YouTube keeps asking me if I want them to take the shake out of the videos so they are smoother, but I just keep ignoring it.

Seems Sandi was a little nervous.
