AUTO-LITE DISTRIBUTORS

Post by j_hart » Wed Jan 04, 2006 3:07 pm

There is a IGW-4028 Auto-Lite Distributoron my 1939 Hercules, 4 cyl, 60 HP, Mod B engine. There are many IGW distributors with different 4 digit numbers. Do the numbers have any significance or is each IGW distributor individually numbered and all IGW distributors the same?

IGW is a type or size. About 2". THe 4028 is the application. IGW 4028 was used from 1936-1940. It was then superceded by IGW 4152. IGW series were also used on six cylinders.
THey were all superceded by the IAY (about 3")series in the early 1950's
