Stern Pole Bulb Replacement

Post by Moosemeat » Mon Feb 17, 2014 2:34 pm

I would like to remove the existing 6v lamp for inspection. I have tried some gentle twisting of the metal piece securing the lens to the body but with no progress. The piece turns and turns with no results. I'm obviously on the wrong track here and before something unfortunate happens I would love to hear some suggestions. Thanks.

If it's a post-war assembly, there is a snap ring on the underside of the metal piece that joins the globe to the socket. It is not threaded.

Thanks Chad, but although my U-18 is a 1947 model I suspect that the stern pole may not be original. There is no spring clip to remove. Do I have to remove the fixture from the pole to get at the clip?

Do you have a photo of the light? Someone will chime in once they see what style light it is.

Here is how they are assembled. If you look close you will see the ends of a spring wire clip in the upside down one.
