Fuel Gauge does not drop with key off

Post by Tom Gruenauer » Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:41 am

12 volt system, new sender, Move the sender gauge moves correctly. Turn the key off and the gauge does not drop to past "E".
No power to the gauge with the key off. All the boats I've know of the gauge drops with the key off. Let me know what you think.

With the key off try to tap on the front of the gauge, if the needle then moves to E or past it's the gauge hanging up. It may be that is how it was set up when the gauge was restored, I would call Dale Kocian maybe he will be able to tell you.

Most gauges have a zero adjust screw that allows the user to set where the needle will point with no voltage on the terminals. If your gauge reads Empty with the sender at the no fuel position, I wouldn't worry about it.
