Tightening the generator pulley nut

Post by Jim Godlewski » Wed Aug 13, 2014 3:43 am

What is the correct procedure to keep the pulley from spinning while tightening the nut?
My procedure was unsuccessful while removing the nut. (the cast pulley is thin at the edges) I'm in the market for one now.
Thanks.

I removed the generator and clamped the pulled in my bench vise (wood jaws). Only because I couldn't think of anything better at the time. Can you you get an oil filter/strap wrench around the pulley?

Tighten the belt. Then tighten the nut. Air tools help.
