More horn questions
OK, I got the throttle rod out and removed the horn button from the throttle lever. I understand that the steering column is grounded as well as the throttle rod through the throttle linkage or by running a separate ground wire to the column or the gear box. I also understand that the horn button when depressed completes the ground circuit through the wire out the bottom of the steering column and connected to the horn relay.
What I fail to understand from looking at the horn button is how it completes the ground circuit from the steering column to the wire leading to the relay. I can see how it could work if the connection was made from the throttle lever to the wire, but with the horn button insulated from the throttle lever that can not happen.
I am attaching pictures in case someone sees something out of place, but it looked to me that the throttle rod had not been out of the steering column since it was built so I doubt that anyone misplaced any parts.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Re: More horn questions
On the throttle rod friction brake is there anything that is supposed to go though the two holes to hold it tighter on to the rod???
Re: More horn questions
Yes there is supposed to be a small nut and bolt to adjust the clamping pressure around the rod.

Thanks Jim. I figured
Re: More horn questions
OK, good news...... I seem to have fixed the horn button.
Now I just need some advice on reattaching the friction brake on the bottom of the throttle lever. How tight should it be? Mine was completely loose since the tightening bolt/nut was missing and my throttle was still holding it's adjustment.
Your advice is appreciated.............

Re: More horn questions
Probably not very tight. The purpose of the brake is to hold the throttle at a constant RPM going down the lake. There is a certain amount of friction in the linkage anyway so if "throttle creep" was not an issue before don't over tighten it.

Re: More horn questions
My boat is 1938 CC Deluxe Utility. Horn and throttle is not correct as no electrical and throttle rod is solid. Obviously replaced years ago. Want to know where to get throttle, horn and assembly and what old/restored would cost. Any help would be appreciated.
