Roof Spot light

Post by srlittin » Fri Jun 03, 2016 2:23 pm

Can anyone supply info or pictures of the correct roof mounted spotlight as fitted to a 1957 30' Constellation. Not sure if it should be fixed, or electrically moveable at this time. There is no signs of control rods for the manual types on the top windshield frames.
Currently has a non working 1970's style fitted, just doesn't look right.

Thanks in advance
Steve

Iva Light had a cabin top light that had the control rod that went from the base of the light, across the cabin top and through the base of the windshield. You see them on Ebay quite often.

The cable control ones aren't right for cruisers. The cable would need to be run insight inside the cabin. Rather unsightly. I can't find an image of one the rod type ones, perhaps someone else here will.

You need a half mile or one mile Ray spotlight. Looks like a pretty nice One Mile Ray on eBay with the controls for 200 and change. I have the half mile on my cruiser. Looks good, works great! Vintage.

This one is a Half Mile Ray on Ebay. It is the right type he needs for an Express Cruiser. It mounts on the cabin top as it has no hard top on the bridge. A little pricey though@ $700.

Your right Capn Nemo. The one I have on my enclosed bridge has the gear type control knobs that comes thru my cabin top over the helm so I can operate it without leaving the helm. The one you've shown is probably more appropriate for an open bridge. They also made a One Mile Ray with no controls and just a handle mounted to the back of the light to direct the beam.
