Keeping your powerboat under power is a lot easier with good advice. Post your power systems questions here.

Model 100 Engine

Post by Jim Godlewski » Sun Jan 29, 2017 8:17 am

Hello All,
We purchased the boat without an engine so I’m researching what engine to power the 1930 model 100. It originally came with a Chrysler KM although I need more engine than that.
The essential guide states Chrysler KM, Crown. Was the KM the only engine offered for this boat at the time?
Would a Chrysler M47 be a good choice for the boat? I was also considering a GM 350 V8 but no decisions have been made yet.
Thanks.

Chrysler M47 would be a better choice. Or Chris-Craft M series. V-8 if it is going to be a daily user. KM is under powered. Especially if you put more than two people in the boat. Having more power available is always a good thing. You don't have to use it but having it there is reassuring.

What can I expect to pay for a rebuilt marine GM V8 compared to a Chrysler M47?
