K Valve Seat

Post by liquidsteel » Sat Feb 11, 2017 10:16 am

Hello,

I have a post war model K with worn valve guides. The compression on all cylinders is good and the rest of the motor seams to be ok.
I've done some research on the forum and it appears to be of universal consent that new exhaust valves with a 45 degree seat insert cut into the head is a given. My first question is what to use for valves. Are stainless the best way to go or would it warrant using sodium filled valves since hercules motors are known for burning exhaust valves? My second question is, is it also necessary to use an insert on the intake valve side? Before i go to a machine shop I wanted to have an idea of what people are doing.

Many thanks
