My 1959 Continental has an AC electric fuel pump dated June, 1978. I cannot find a replacement or rebuild kit. Does anyone have a picture of the original pump used? Any suggestions on a replacement pump; mechanical or electric? Will a 283cu. in. fuel pump fit on the block between the stringers? Pros & Cons of electric vs. mechanical? Minimum/maximum fuel flow (pressure)? Any help is appreciated.

Electric with an oil pressure cutoff switch (separate piece) is safer, handles ethanol better, primes and starts faster which reduces starter wear etc.

Max pressure should be 5-6 psi.

The one I use is a Carter p4389 and I pair it with a Holley oil pressure cutoff.
