327F oil sender removal

I suspect that my oil pressure sender may be bad, the gauge showed idle at about 20psi a few weeks ago butthe last two times I've briefly started her up, I get zero gauge reading. I tested the gauge by grounding the signal wire and the needle moves as it should. If I do end up trying to replace the sender- is there a trick to removing it? I can get a crow's foot on the sender, but applying torque just makes the t-fitting underneath want to turn.

After looking at it again tonight, I think it would be easy to remove the sender if I could take off the part that is in the way, what i’ve determined to be a piece of the crankcase ventilator as shown in the drawing as item 3. Can’t find much info on this- Does anyone know how this removes?

Once you remove that sending unit do a temporary install of a mechanical gauge,--and use a good one. Take readings at idle and high idle and then compare to your electrical gauge once you've installed the new sending unit. That helps to determine if something else is going on.
