Paragon Manual Gearbox HP rating

Post by SpeedDemon651 » Tue Jun 19, 2018 8:10 am

I was curious if anyone knows what the Paragon manual gear box is rated for HP wise ?

Typically mated up behind a 283, I'm told they are pretty bullet proof but was wondering what HP they would hold or is the week link with this setup, it's matting to the crankshaft via a key way ?

I don't have an exact number but I see them in Jersey Skiffs that put out some serious power.

When we use this transmission on engines of higher power than the original 185 hp we add an extra steel and bronze plate. This increases the surface area making it less likely to slip and reduces the shifting effort to put the transmission in gear. Anyone interested in our technique please feel free to contact us.

I'd be interested in seeing how that is done, do you have any pictures of how its modified ?

The stock Paragon 25XE manual gearbox will handle up to a stock 350 which is around 270hp at the crank. Anymore then this you should have the drum machined out to add another set of plates.
