Having my KL rebuilt. What is timing setting? What spark plugs should I use and gap?

Depending on the year. If you have a timing pointer, it is dot to point. If not, it is "Take the boat out and run it under load (getting up on plane) advance it till it pings then retard it till she starts easy" Direct from manual. Champion J8J or J8C .028"

Sounds so simple. Right ?
Well it is until you decide that knocking at 2500 RPMs under load is not acceptable and you want more and start messing around with prop sizes, distributors and carburetors.
Let us know how you make out. I am still fighting performance issues but I can tell you that these engines are great runners. Just need to figure out the exact formula.
