Correct engine color

Post by jtodd398 » Tue May 08, 2007 12:56 pm

I was struct by a comment in another thread about "period correct engine color". Did CC use different shades of blue over the years? The current "correct" color used by judges seems too dark to me based on the CC engines I've seen in 60's cruisers.

Over the years I assisted fellow yacht club members with pulling engines from their CC cruisers and the engine color was considerably lighter than what is now accepted as correct. Maybe pre-war engines were darker? Maybe we could get some color samples posted?

John,

Stay tuned for the next issue of The Brass Bell, Don Ayers has written an article that will answer your exact question.

The short answer to your question is yes.

John;

The next issue coming in the mail soon will explain that indeed there are different "correct" shades of blue for CC engines. Three to be exact.

Stay tuned!
