I know of an Owens "Free to a Good Home" that comes with a 327.

I also have a friend with twin's that I think are out of the boat. I could see if he was willing to sell them. :?

I'm hoping you have a block casting that ends in 870. Then look on the other side for the actual casting date.
Example A- 10-4 = Jan 10th 1964 etc

Don,

I know someone who has a couple of 327 car engines. One is a small journal with a steel crank, this one is seized (rusted) and he doesn't know much about it other than it is standard bore. This would make a good piece but will take some elbow grease to get it apart. The second is a 68-69 block, crank and rods, he knows that these are good useable parts. He is asking $250.00 for each.

Do you need exactly that block number for originality reasons? There are a number of 2 bolt 327 and 350 block numbers that should be interchangeable.

Also, I think you need to tell us what you are putting it in and post some pictures.

I am not sure what I have....as the casting numbers on the port side read: GM 8970010.....that last 1 & O are in smaller type.

on the starboard side all I can make out is 155.....with the last 5 in smaller type.

This engine came out of a 1960's cruiser, a Pembroke (spelling?) 36 footer...when I got them they were recent, running, takeouts.....since my ownership , been sitting, indoors for years....I bought the pair engine and paragon parts .....this engine still has the 2.0 or 2.5 HF paragon trans attached...forget which...did not check.

John, your block is likely a 3970010 which is a late 60's or 70's era 327/350 block. See the link above.

Matt. I was looking for a good block for my corvette. Looking specifically for a 1963, 870 block dated Jan thru may.

Thought maybe we had some laying around in the boat world

Don,

This is just minutes from me if you would like me to take a look at it. I could also possibly pick it up and store it for a short time if need be. Not sure about the price, but it is exactly what you are looking for. PM me or call if you think it could work. I'm 30 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Thanks so much.

So, this one is very close but no cigar. Here is something you might not know. On the casting date, if it has the numbers "63" at the end rather than just a "3" then the block is NOT a Flint plant block but rather a Tonawanda NY cast block.

I'm sure it is. It is a 4 bolt main block. If it is the same as the one I got, it has a decent set of heads and is a 350, not a 327. The intake is the 327/300HP intake that was on the Corvette and also the 327F engines, so there are certainly desirable parts on it. It would be a good candidate for a rebuild or replacement for a 283, 307, 327, or 350 in one of these old boats.

The other one is in my dad's neighborhood so I could probably arrange the same on that as well if need be. Just let me know.
