The motor mounts on my KFL are scaring me. Some sag way past the 1/16" which I'm told is acceptable.
I just completed a 12v conversion, and when I started the engine (wow, what a difference!), I noticed that the prop was not spinning in neutral like it used to. I can still move the prop with two fingers (with the engine off of course ), but no spin.
Is this is a DIY job? If you jack up each corner of the engine one at a time, what do you support the jack on? Certainly not the bottom. Any ideas? Thanks.

I would use a chain fall or properly rated winch and lift the entire engine up and out of the way. Definitely not a place I would want a band aide solution done while the engine is in place.

Easy job to do in the boat. Do them one at a time, and you can use a 2x4 to leverage off the stringer for lift. You don't need much lift, just take the weight off. Done it dozens of times. Good luck!

And don't forget to disconnect the shaftJohnKadimik wrote:Easy job to do in the boat. Do them one at a time, and you can use a 2x4 to leverage off the stringer for lift. You don't need much lift, just take the weight off. Done it dozens of times. Good luck!

Yes, good point Doug!

You'll want to check the engine alignment after you change the mount.

Thanks for the ideas. I took the boat down to George Hazzard's Wooden Boat Restoration, and he had it done in less than three hours. Drive in- drive out service! The right tools make it look easy (engine lift, air tools).
Those mounts were really sagging, but then everything sags with age.
