Keeping your powerboat under power is a lot easier with good advice. Post your power systems questions here.

Flywheel forward?

Post by fozbuzz » Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:25 am

Just bought a 1966 24' Sea Skiff w/no motor--own a flywheel forward 283 ready to go--how was this boat configured? Don't laugh at the "roof"--that big ol' tarp kept inside dry!!

Most likely your boat came with a flywheel forward 283. "64 is just at the end of the flywheel forward configuration and the "F" series flywheel aft followed in '65 or so. You can make some measurements of the engine mount bolt to confirm that.

Not lauching at your tarp frame. I have a steel tube frame I've used for 25 years. If its got to be outside a wooden boat would rather have a tarp than shrink wrap. It wants ftresh air flowing through.
