The oil cooler on my KBL engine has an oil leak just above the water outlet connection. (see photo) My question is: how is the oil cooler sealed at this location? Is there a gasket? If so, where can the gasket be purchased? Can I make one?
Would like to know what I am dealing with before disassembly of the cooler. Thanks.

Re: Oil Cooler Leak
If you have oil coming out there. Your cooler is bad. But first you need to make sure that the 2 line fittings and the plug in the side of the cooler are not leaking. If they are leaking that is where the oil will puddle.
Re: Oil Cooler Leak
If you have never had the oil cooler apart and are unsure of when it was last serviced then you should disassemble and inspect it and clean if necessary.
Since the raw water runs through it there could be debris inside. Mine was pretty bad when I took it apart and I gave it a thorough cleaning.
Pictured is the inside after cleaning.

Re: Oil Cooler Leak
You were right Jim G. The leak was at the "IN" connection to the oil cooler. Thanks for the redirection, saved me from chasing my tail!
Re: Oil Cooler Leak

Re: Oil Cooler Leak
There is a gasket on the top and bottom side. The gaskets can be purchased from VanNess
