Do any of you know the recommended fluid for the Crash-O-Matic system?

I suspect I will use ATF unless someone has a better idea. :?

Is it ATF or Hydraulic fluid? I'm not sure, but my understanding is they use a hydraulic pump to engage. I just piloted my first Crash O Matic in Algonac a few weeks ago. I see why they were called Crash O Matics, I'm just glad I wasn't trying to dock it.

I did add a small amount of ATF. I later determined that was not my problem. I simply needed to adjust the limiters. She is working GREAT now! :D

Fortunately I have never run a twin with anything else, so all I know is the Crash-O-Matic method of docking. It really works quite well once you get it adjusted right and anticipate your actions. I suspect it was a very advanced system in it's day.
