How to repaint the deck stripes
I am sure I will remove some of the paint in the grooves and will have to repair/repaint it.
Any suggestions?
And what kind of paint do you use?

Thanks Ed........ yet another tool I never knew I needed when I woke up this morning.
Re: How to repaint the deck stripes
Brightside is the paint to use. The tool mentioned is great for a pro or if your doing a lot of stripping, but I just tape off and use a small brush. Works for me. Use the good fine line painters tape that won't bleed through.

Thanks............ I wasn't looking forward to buying that thing...... pretty pricey, but pretty cool too.
Re: How to repaint the deck stripes
There is a cheaper alternative.

It comes in different width wheels. You can buy it and try it out on some scrap pieces first.
Also, when taping off the deck stripes I used pre-made pin striping tape which keeps the gap uniform all the way down. You just need to get it in the right place. I don't have it with me but can dig up the info if you would like it.

Re: How to repaint the deck stripes
I tried a pin striping tool once, practiced for a while and thought I was getting pretty good at it, until I tried it on the deck. That is tough to do well. Now I tape off and paint. My boats are user boats and they look great, but not perfect. If I wanted perfection I would hire a pro like Brian suggested.

My brother John used the cheap wheel and it came out nice. And he didn't even tape off. He did good..mbigpops wrote:There is a cheaper alternative.

Those deck lines look very nicely prepped. The deck I was doing had proud spots, which made using the striping tool even more challenging. Since I was not stripping the whole deck I did not do a lot of prep work on the lines themselves.
Nice work John!
