Filling Top Plank Seems

This is a 1949-'51 (not sure) its a U22 Sportsman. I have replaced all the screws and bungs in the original planks. what is the best method to fill the seems?

You coild route them out with an 1/8" bit then glue in a cedar spline. The cedar is so old I doubt the seams would swell closed so you should not end up with the planks cupping.

Tha other more correct option of how to do it would be to remove the planks. Clean up the backsides, seal with cpes, fill the screw holes with dowels and then reinstall the planks with 5200. You will end up with around a 1/2 inch gap at the top. Which you fill with a strip of wood. The crush rail that goes behind the rub rail will cover it up.
