Stain for Supersport

Post by Don Segall » Sat Jul 21, 2007 12:31 pm

Back in the mid nineties I wooded my 21' 1966 Supersport last. The previous owner had used Zspar 1095 standard mahogany and I simply continued. The look was great but I guess not "correct."

I am currently wooding the boat again and need to decide on stain. An option is to return to the original golden walnut. I have a can of Pettit Chris Craft Golden Walnut and have applied it to a test piece off the boat. I find it is really light in tone, with no red hue under one coat of varnish. The original brochure pictures show a really dark color.

Any suggestions?

Don;

Tell me about that original stain. Where does it say your boat was golden walnut. Do you have the spec sheets from the MM? Just wondering
