1932 Chris craft stain

I have a small section deck area Darker wood out edge, where a rope rubbed finish of to bare wood, I assume I need to stain and varnish, I have heard Epiphanes Gloss Clear varnish? what about stain? Thanks CJ

I am no expert on this but I think staining just a small section may be problematic in terms of matching in with the rest of the area in question. Do you know what stain was used before?

In terms of a correct cc pre-war stain, dave lobb of nw classic boats, auburn, ca. has done chemical analyses, etc. and has the correct pre war stain. He was selling it, so you might check with him to see if he still is.
