As a continuation of previous posts, the work is coming along. I stripped most of the paint down to wood. There was a good deal of rot above the water line. Some of the damage I was able to replace with new wood and some I used wood filler (bondo brand). Now I am left with a surface that is 80% bare wood intermingled with patched spots and some previously painted wood in several places.
Before I prime and paint (I am going to use a HVLP sprayer), is there any benefit to sealing the bare wood first. I would think the primer would adhere fine without primer, but now is not the time to make mistakes. If I use a sealer, can I seal not only over the bare wood but also over the old painted areas and the patched areas as well???
Any comments are more than welcome.
