Is a machine bolt and nut original fastener type for a engine hatch handle on a 1930 model 100?

Yes but I have not seen a square nut on them before. Most likely it was a chrome or nickel (depending on the month the boat was made) machine screw with a brass washer and a brass nut. In mid to late 1930 they switched from nickel to chrome.
