By now many of you have received your Fall Brass Bell. I apologize for the delay in getting this issue out.
The issue will not disappoint however, as it is 96 pages—the largest to date. It is considered by many to be the most striking yet, with absolutely stunning photography. For 2010, we will be back on track with our Brass Bell delivery schedule. The Winter 2010 issue is at the printer now, so you will receive two issues back-to-back.
Please give me your feedback as you receive your copies. We have listened to your prior feedback in wanting to learn more about the beautiful cover boats. The Winter 2010 issue and Spring 2010 issue will both feature in-depth looks at prior cover boats. _________________ Bill Basler

Bill;
Got my issue today in OKC. I'm thrilled with the layout and the quality.
One small typo in my Keys article. The pic of a Riva dash says that it is a model Ariston. The pic is actually of a Riva Aquarama dash. This boat belonging to club member Dirk Reed. A very minor error considering the entire issue is packed with great content.

Great issue packed with interesting articles and great pics. I've been getting the BB for some time now and can say in all honesty it's one of the best I've ever seen. In fact, the BB now far surpasses the "Rudder" in layout and picture quality, IMHO. _________________ Tom King

Yes, in fact you will get two issues within three weeks of each other. Winter 2010 will be out very soon as well. Sorry about the delay. I think you will be pleased when your first issue arrives. _________________ Bill Basler

Bill,
What a fantastic issue of the Fall BB. I want to let you know how much I enjoyed the article you did on Al. Don Ayers photo's from Tahoe really make me want to make that trip next year and the article Brian did on Teaser was very interesting.
Our club is so lucky to have such a talented and dedicated group.
Thanks for all you and the staff do to make our club so great..

Got mine a couple days ago. There's an article from Billy Black How I Got that Shot in this month's Boat US magazine featuring the Eulipion.
http://www.boatusmagazine.com/boatus/20100102#pg1
page 29
Enjoy,
John
BTW, will there be a members only archive of Brass Bell past issues? Nevermind, I found it under Archives > Periodicals > The Brass Bell. _________________ John & Wendy |

Mine arrived in Florida over a week ago.
BoatUS mag arrived more recently...The way Billy Black describes getting that bow shot of the 25'Red and White underway while tied to the bow sounded kinda risky to me. _________________ Wilson Wright

My copy arrived yesterday. It looks like Bill, Don, Brian, et al have outdone themselves! It's such a professional publication that it amazes me.
Can I apply for Terry Fiest's job when (if) he ever retires LOL? _________________ 1942 Chris Craft 17' Deluxe, 71906 |

OK all. Thank you for the feedback. We are really picking up the pace of the Brass Bells trying to get delivery back on a reasonable schedule. We have the Winter issue at the printer now...with a couple of minor holes. Given the short time the Fall issue has been out, we need "Your Turn" and CCIQ responses stat!!!!
C'mon, you're up to the task. Lets see what you've got!

I just received my Brass Bell in Calgary, Canada today. We typically get ours about 2 to 3 weeks later than the members in the USA.
There's nothing quite like opening up a new Brass Bell. The smell, the photos, the articles..... Heck, I even like the advertising! _________________ Reg Down

Paul, welcome to Boat Buzz, a good place to be while waiting for that snow to go away. With a Brass Bell now and another one in hand in a few more days we'll be putting the snowmobiles away and cranking up the Chris-Crafts in no time. Spring is just 7 weeks away. Thanks for the photo.

Now this has never happened before. I'm usually begging Bill to send my issue down the river tied to a log but the USPS left the Winter 2010 Brass Bell in the box yesterday. Wow!
As we have grown to expect, this issue is yet another amazing labor of love for the hobby. If you haven't seen it, do this when you can: Read Seb Borrello's "Rest in Pieces", page 11 first, then skip to page 36 and read the story of a "...Charmed Life" by another familiar name. I know you'll enjoy the poetic and artistic contrast these two stories tell.

Are you guys talking about Fall or Winter Brass Bells...My Fall issue has been here for some time but now Winter issue...Could today be the day...
And will somebody please answer the question about poodle skirts and cup holders..I don't remember any cup holders in Chris Crafts, unless they were add ons. I can remember saddle oxfords and poodle skirts but what does that have to do with it and why does the question keep reoccuring...Does no one have an answer ? _________________ Wilson Wright

Wilson, the Winter 2010 issue is in the mail....and has been for a week or two now. You should have your copy any day now.
The Poodle skirt "question" is actually part of "Stovebolt's" signature. It will appear every time he makes a post. Stovebolt is a vintage car guy as well, so I think it is intended to be a rhetorical question. _________________ Bill Basler

Ha. I guess Stovebolt really needs that answer. Unfortunately, I am a product of the sixties. I remember the Kennedys, Viet Nam, Nixon, Flower Power, and campus Riots.
Poodle skirts? Yes, I know of them. But only from TV! _________________ Bill Basler
