Mid-60s Helm Parts Wanted

Post by ballardMike » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:08 pm

I have a '67 Cavalier and want to clean up the helm. The chrome on the controls covers is a bit rough so i am looking for replacement parts since the guys i was taking parts in for re-chroming said they may end up having to much pitting to make restoration wothwhile.

Anybody have spare New Old Stock sittin' around?! :)

Otherwise arms and covers in good shape will do me.

You can buy them on ebay occasionally.... they are pot metal, Zamack, so they pit more easily than most metals.

I have to get mine rechromed too. They can be repaired by filling in the pitting then polished out.

I am investigating possibly getting castings made for reproduction. If so i'll see how big a production run could be made and offer some up for sale to help defray the cost.

I would think that a good restorative rechromer would still be cheaper than new castings. Here is a set on Ebay.
