Factory was somewhere between 1/16" and 3/32". I say no wider than 3/32" but it really depends on what you are working with if your seams are old. If putting new seams in new wood I use a .065" kerf blade on my table saw and use a #57 (1/16") Beugler striping wheel (I have a set of custom convex wheels for concave seams). The Beugler tool is only as good as your seams meaning they have to be pretty darn smooth and perfect for the tool to work. Or, you can always hire a pinstriper (though you have to insist on a narrow width, they always seem to want to go wider thinking they are doing you a favor).

Err on the narrow side, over the years of varnish coats they will only grow, not get smaller.

...and speaking of white lines, keep in mind that model had an unusual 5/8" white waterline.

Brian, thanks very much for the info on both the deck width stripes and waterline width-- Entered the boat in the ACBS New England Chapter boat show last weekend in Wolfeboro New Hampshire and the boat won Best of Show Restored and first Place Chris Craft Post war runabouts 21' and under. Many ,many thanks to Chris Craft Boat Buzz and all the great people who helped me with this seven year restoration project with all the feed back advice and answers to all my questions---how to--- where to- etc
