Hello -
Thank you in advance for any replies !
Judging from the attachment - can anyone help me get started on staining my boat to match back to the original color ?
It is sanded down to bare wood. Will soon have new top decking.
Thank you
Scott

The filler-stain designed to match postwar Chris-Crafts is Interlux #573, Chris-Craft red.
It will likely take at least 2-pints, mixed with 1-pint Interlux #333 brushing thinner to do the entire hull and deck.
The condition of your 61-year old planking may make some slight color differences as wood does darken over time from photo degradation from UV light, as well as stains.
In such a case, you can bleach the entire boat first.

Great - thank you so much for the insight.
I'm sure I will have a million more questions as this process happens.
Have a great day

Take a look at my photos under the signature link. 573 stain with 333 brushing thinner. No bleach. Other than the ceiling boards and the engine cover, all wood was new african mahogany.

Yes, it was great to talk to Steve Griffitts about the boat and the whole process to find it. He did a nice job with our old photos. Love it !
