The 33' "flush deck" runabout for 1930 and 1931 was a continuation of the flush deck, and newly direct-drive 33' 33-55 model Baby Gar introduced at the 1929 New York Motor Boat Show.

Eleven 33' Runabouts were built for 1930 and 1931, all were the 33-50 model which carried the 425 hp Gar Wood Liberty V-12 in a direct-drive configuration. One 1930 model was a 33-50 Limousine, the only flush deck 33' Limousine built, and was sold to a customer on Lake Geneva, WI for $10,950. The other seven 1930 models were all open runabouts, which sold for $8,950. Only two 33-footers were delivered as 1931 models. Both were model 33-50 open runabouts. These two boats still exist, Heather (formerly Wampum and originally Sea Robin) and Dispatch (formerly Kathryn and Wychwood), on Lake Tahoe, both are still used every summer.

Of the eleven 33-footers that were built for 1930 and 1931, one of these boats was reassigned a different hull number (#5460) in 1934 prior to being sold Eugenio Silvani in Milan, Italy. This boat was included in the 1934 production and sold as a new, 1934 model.

The 33' Baby Gar (1922-1929) and the 33' Runabout are not only the top of the Gar Wood food chain, they are very near the top of the entire classic boat food chain.
