Aqua Home
From ClassicBoatWiki
The Aqua Home was manufactured from 1968 to 1974 in 33', 34’ and 46’ models. Early models had fiberglass hulls and vinyl cabins and later versions were all fiberglass. A Chris-Craft Aqua Home is a Houseboat. See Houseboats in Chris-Craft Hull Classifications for a brief description of their first one in 1936.

[edit] Overview
The Aqua Home was introduced in the 1968 fleet lineup in a 33’ length followed in 1969 with a 46’ model that slept 8 overnighters in comfort. The 33’ 6-Sleeper was soon replaced in 1970 with a 34’ model. The 46’ Aqua Home was compared to a 2-bedroom apartment when it was introduced. All of them offered all of the comforts of home in a powerboat.
The Aqua Homes were built on a fiberglass hull with upper structures built of vinyl covered plywood. The 33’ version (1968-1969) was powered by a single V-8 or twin V-6 engines with Volvo out-drives and power-tilt for navigating in shallow water. The 34’ version (1970-1974) added twin V-8 to the power options and in 1972 were switched to V-Drives. Prior to the switch nine of these were powered with twin CC 350 Jet Drives. The 46’ version (1969-1972) received twin V-8 engines. In a sad note the 46’ Aqua Home had the distinction of being the last boat to leave the plant in Algonac, Michigan on March 25, 1972 before it was permanently closed. There were 250 of the 33’ model, 230 of the newer 34’ units and 367 of the 46’ versions for a total of 847 Aqua Homes built between 1968 and 1974.
It’s possible that some of the later 34’ (1973 or 1974) Aqua Homes received fiberglass upper structures in lieu of vinyl covered plywood following Chris-Craft's development of modular fiberglass construction methods that were being used on some cruisers in 1973.
