Oil Recommendation & Old fuel Issues
I have a 1953 33' Sedan Cabin Cruiser, twin KL flat head sixes. I'm doing more of the maintenance myself for cost reasons. First question is easy. Last year my mechanic used synthetic oil at the oil change, my assumption is that's expensive and unnecessary and possibly harmful. Just confirming, stra...

Re: Boat Weight
Jim F., Thanks. Generator has been removed. Would have freshwater and holding tanks empty before trailering. Usually fuel tanks maybe 1/2 full, so 60 gallons at 6 lbs./gallon. With the 3 batteries would still then be well below trailer capacity of 13,000 lbs. I pull all of the other "stuff" off the ...

Boat Weight
My 1953 33' Sedan Cabin Cruiser has a published weight of 9600 lbs or so. I see a plaque on board with the same weight listed. I have a couch and refrigerator that stay onboard. New trailer
I may need to finally get a trailer for my 1953 33' Sedan Cabin cruiser; tired of getting horsed around by the marina. Used trailer is obviously going to be cheaper; quote for new was $13,000. The manufacturing facility that gave that quote for a new one took some measurements, but I have not made a...

Hull Swelling
I have kept my 1953 Sedan Cabin cruiser in the water the last few winters (covered storage on a large inland lake in Idaho that does not freeze over). However this year the boat was hauled and stored (non-heated storage). Now on a trailer and the marina is running water in the boat for one week now,...

Mahogany species
Replacing the mahogany plywood panels that form the inner walls of the cabin on my 1953 Sedan Cabin Cruiser. I can get 7mm Philippine panels, marine grade, 2 good sides, quite easily from a local source. The panels look great at the shop. The only African Mahogany easily available has an MDS core wh...
