Re: Hercules KFL engine noise, help appreciated

Put the video on youtube and post a link.
As to the sound and issue. It's the internet, so it will most likely be one of 4000 things. HA.

Re: Interior for '50 Special Runabout

Okay, got some info. Two cushions. Piping wasn't until later. I am seeing in the book, it may have been two colors yellow and black tolex, or just red, or black. Your Hull card says red, so red it is. So.. THere yago. Also they came with B, K, and KL engines. Your hull card should indicate that as w...

Re: Interior for '50 Special Runabout

Gotta say, finding an original photo of your boat is not been easy. Too bad the orig owner doesnt have any. Attached is an image from katzs marina of a Rocket with the white piping. Looks very cool. I think..??? thats red Naugahyde. So sorry to be dragging this out.

Re: Interior for '50 Special Runabout

It's all personal taste at some point. If you wanted your seats made out of pink leather chris craft would have done it. The story of the original owner saving up by mowing lawns is amazing and wonderful. Thats passion and love and that love is in your boat. You kinda are at a crossroads of sorts. G...

Yes! I have found being in salt water that the semi gloss clear helps. It slows down the dulling. The fun part is the restoration of it.

Re: 1930 Badge Restoration

I would assume black. Easy to do. Back then color would not have been all that used. If you notice the type is smooth and the texture holds paint. Looks fantastic all cleaned up. YES, this is a different one pictured. But all of them are like this.

Re: Missing Horn

I had a 1941 Custom 19 - Horn was a single black horn. I cant find a photo. But I know Jim Staib will have boxes of them http://www.finewoodboats.com/ That is a special boat and attention to detail is important. It was a transition year. Very cool bow.

Re: Is this a Yale jr. ignition switch

Don is correct. Your Hull card will tell you what brand you have. I went out and looked at my 1937 which on the hull card says Ckusss@%.. HA, so I assume its Clum Clumbe. Very simple and round. The original is below the newer one installed 60 years ago.

Re: Is this a Yale jr. ignition switch

Hi Joe, YALE made most of our ignition switches. I am looking for a reference photo for you. The earlier ones can have a honeycomb detail. But this way beyond my pea brain. I would say as well, that many of us have new switches since its a safety thing while out on the water, but if you want to dive...

Re: Interior for '50 Special Runabout

Cool! BTW, sorry I had a brain fart and posted the wrong boat, but same interior idea. Here is an image from Mitch lapoints site. I would say its not pleated. But very simple and basic. Remember these were low cost entry level boats and mass produced. paul at http://www.woodiesrestorations.com/Authe...

Re: Interior for '50 Special Runabout

Its a red red not a burgandy red. Someone will no doubt post the actual researched color and material. Hope this helps. There are some great folks out there that do interiors if you are going to go outside your area. Also if the restoration is just for you and not show. A red that you like. There ar...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

It sank because the bilge didn't work after a massive rain storm. That's what I recall, not a boat issue and was restored in a wonderful way. The Harrison's don't cut corners any were. So, sorry no orange seamed boat sitting in a lake. Although, I bet someplace that may be the case. Ya never know. B...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

Not to be picky, but what the hell. In that stunning boat Mike showed, the seams seem a little fat. The correct width of the seams is important as well. For many reasons they are widened over time. But if you are going to do this in a restoration, the seams are very thin. I think???? 1/16 thick. I g...

Re: 1940 19' Chris-Craft Custom: Orange Deck Seams

Not only did they come with Orange Seams, but an apple green boot stripe, pigskin interior and many have a stunning marble banjo sterring wheel. I am pretty sure its pre 1940. But smarter folks than I know all this. I think Katzs Marina is in the process of restoring one. Seth has a passion for this...
