Are you sure you have the right condenser for your distributor? They are not a one size fits all and most parts places are not going to have a listing for yours.

Like everything else. The 60's and 70's gauges were made cheaper. Without the shunt and the correct length of wire. Not only will it not read right but it will also fry the gauge inside.

If I remember correctly. Not all of the 39 6 hole panels had the switches on them. Some were mounted on the dash.

Re: Short block (350) installation in our '59 Ski Utility
Take a measurement from the front mount hole to the first rear mount hole on the stringer. See if it matches up to the mounts you have on your engine. Then you will know which rear mount you need to use. They are not interchangeable with the hole placement.

Re: New engine update
It just dawned on me when mfine mentioned a compression test. What I would highly recommend doing is hooking up a vacuum gauge to a port on the intake. This is one of the best forgotten about diagnostic tools for carb engines. I'd seen one many years ago when I first started working on cars. About 1...

Re: 1937 Chris Craft 19' Custom Runabout Bottom Woes
I would use Boat Life Life Caulk. It should take around 3 tubes for a caulking gun. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=2770 Clean the seams when the boat is dry and caulk them. Then swell the boat up. You can then go back and slice the squeeze out off with a razor b...

Re: KBL Intake
All it takes is for a leak in the engine box for water to go down the carb. But it is possible to have a water leak there in the intake tube. I will say based on experience that this is how KBL's usually get water in the intake. With that much evidence of water I would pull numbers 5 and spark plugs...

It will come out and go back in with no problems. You will probably need to get some gasket material to make a new gasket. You should be able to copy the old one. If you don't have one on your engine. You still need one.

I am working on a 1957-58, 18' Holiday that is throwing me a couple of unknowns. First, the hull number is a little odd. With the Mariners Museum's research dept. still closed, I'm not able to get info from them. The back seat frame is stamped with 18-HY-262. Hull markings on other Holidays seems t...

What brand distributor are you using. I've had 4 or 5 engines come into the shop that had cheap electronic distributors from ebay put on them by there owners. I've have never seen one of them work correctly. I would recommend finding an original one or a Mallory. A lot of times you can find a good u...

Well it's the little details that drive me nuts! I've been plagued with little unforeseen things that are slowing my progress. After the first fire the other night I had a transmission leak that turned out to be a faulty O-ring. Of course it's a special size and only available through Paragon. Anot...

Another thing I have not tried is hooking it up as standard rotation, just on the off chance they sent me a standard instead of opposite. would it even fire if that were the case? again...it runs fine wired this way and turning opposite rotation, just way off the timing mark. Re: Remote oil filter install
You need to secure the copper lines that went to the oil cooler. If allowed to vibrate they will crack at the fittings. The tubing is a very thin wall copper.
