Nope, no need for seawater if there is ethanol in the fuel.
Which is why everyone should be running non ethanol in there boats and old cars. Along with fuel treatment at each fill up.

Here is a good article on brass and aluminum:

Mark
The last paragraph of the article states it very well.

You got to have seawater. i.e. Salt Water.

Are you sure you have the right condenser for your distributor? They are not a one size fits all and most parts places are not going to have a listing for yours.

Like everything else. The 60's and 70's gauges were made cheaper. Without the shunt and the correct length of wire. Not only will it not read right but it will also fry the gauge inside.

If I remember correctly. Not all of the 39 6 hole panels had the switches on them. Some were mounted on the dash.

Re: Short block (350) installation in our '59 Ski Utility

Take a measurement from the front mount hole to the first rear mount hole on the stringer. See if it matches up to the mounts you have on your engine. Then you will know which rear mount you need to use. They are not interchangeable with the hole placement.

Re: New engine update

It just dawned on me when mfine mentioned a compression test. What I would highly recommend doing is hooking up a vacuum gauge to a port on the intake. This is one of the best forgotten about diagnostic tools for carb engines. I'd seen one many years ago when I first started working on cars. About 1...

Re: 1937 Chris Craft 19' Custom Runabout Bottom Woes

I would use Boat Life Life Caulk. It should take around 3 tubes for a caulking gun. https://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=2770 Clean the seams when the boat is dry and caulk them. Then swell the boat up. You can then go back and slice the squeeze out off with a razor b...

Re: KBL Intake

All it takes is for a leak in the engine box for water to go down the carb. But it is possible to have a water leak there in the intake tube. I will say based on experience that this is how KBL's usually get water in the intake. With that much evidence of water I would pull numbers 5 and spark plugs...

It will come out and go back in with no problems. You will probably need to get some gasket material to make a new gasket. You should be able to copy the old one. If you don't have one on your engine. You still need one.

You need to secure the copper lines that went to the oil cooler. If allowed to vibrate they will crack at the fittings. The tubing is a very thin wall copper.
