HULL CARD - BILGE PUMP

The hull card for my 1959 Continental 18' indicates it came with a PAC-HAND (could be PAR-HAND) bilge pump. Is this a hand pump? Was there an electric bilge pump in the '59's? I purchased my boat in 1984 and it had a bilge discharge but no bilge pump??? Any thoughts??? Thanks
