Just purchased this beauty. My first woodie. Been garaged for 3 years. Philippine Mahogany construction with batten-seamed hull sides and silicon bronze hull fasteners. The hull shows a varnished wood finish on the hull sides with white side-strakes and upper surfaces, and gold accents. The boat retains the a type soak bottom, which is finished in Pettit 1933 Copper Bronze bottom paint.
Question: Any advice on the proper soaking procedure. I presume it will need to be soaked.
Thanks!!

Welcome to the Buzz and to the CCABC!
First off, post pictures of your boat if you can. We would all like to see your new purchase.
You described your boat has a traditional bottom and has been out of the water for some time. Depending on the condition it will probably need some soaking before launch. You can spray the inside of the bilge with the garden hose. It’s important not to let too much water accumulate in the bilge. Your boat was designed to keep water out not in. The weight of the water could pull fasteners loose.

Boats are to be made of wood, otherwise, God would have grown fiberglass trees.
