1961 Capri 19ft

Post by Peter McBratney » Thu Oct 27, 2011 6:58 am

I am rebuilding my 19ft Capri, build originally in 1961.

I have all the old timber that has been used as a pattern for the new pieces.

Where the deck edge nose piece joins the side planking there is a rubbing strip of timber, approx 1 inch x 5/8. I think there was a 1/2 half round stainless steel rod screwed to the outter edge. There are screw holes but the boat did not have the steel when I purchased it.

My questions is, was the stainless steel original and if so where can I get hold of it?

The original plans I got from the museum do not show the stainless steel on the rubbing strip. There is 3/4 SS specified along the hull from the side breather aft.

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

You might check down to Woodies Restoration in KY www.woodiesrestorations.com They were really helpful with me but I think they have a 60 or 61 Capri that may give some info.
