Model B distributor

Post by dadsdream » Tue Nov 15, 2016 5:16 pm

I believe a previous owner put an incorrect distributor on my Model B (also wrong carburetor which I have changed). Wondering if I can keep this distributor or am I better off buying a rebuilt one. The Auto-lite number on mine is IGB4096B. From what I have found, it should be IGW4149A? Sticking with the 6V system, should I opt for the Pertronix ignition?
Thank you,
Scott

Being a pre war model B engine. The carb and dist. could be correct. If you have a parts manual from the postwar era. Its going to list different numbers for some parts.

Especially generators, starters and dist.

I am running Pertronix in both 6V and 12 V systems and am very happy so far. :D

IGW4149 is for a six cylinder. You have the correct distributor for a mid-1930s B

Well that's good news! Now can I still get points, rotor, etc for it? Or a Pertronix ignition?
