Brian, is this because of a usage restriction....Rosenfeld/Mystic?

Mark, any of the Rosenfeld photos from Mystic are pretty tightly protected. Mystic will provide scans of photos at certain resolution for specific usage only. Same is true for the Mariners' Museum to a great degree.

We are granted permission to use requested photos in the Brass Bell, but we cannot, in good faith, publish those out beyond the predefined scope. We credit the photos to the Mariners' Museum, and for example, would not ingest those photos into our online archive.

with our hobby overloaded with geezers like myself, it would seem like those in any aspect of the hobby would allow ANYTHING to be publsihed ANYWHERE in an effort to entice/inform some of the younger folks.
????
let's face it, any 10 year old can hack those pics for you from cyber somewhere, like the nerd that just sent viagra ads to my entire addressbook....what a world!

great boat and pictures! Question for the gar wood experts out there, don, etc. When did gars start using upholstery on the ceiling boards? And when they did,did they use it on all models or gradually shift from wood? thanks.

Id be interested to know this too...I know the 16' boats were like that from 34...This boat is unique because it has the blue upholstery in it. Was like that from the factory, from what i gather not to many garwood's came with bule upholstery...This is a model 601 Deluxe runabout. Not the rarest garwood out there...but hey its still a 1930's garwood and that means something to me.now if all goes right i should have it saturday keeping my fingers crossed

a great boat. can't beat the 30's for design in mho. You should have been at tahoe. lots of great gars. no small prewar runabouts, and no split cockpits, as i recall, but 4 or 5 19' runabouts. Maybe bill basler knows the answer to the question?

Tahoe is a bit of a haul for me coming from PA...would love to do the show sometime...even Clayton is a bit of a haul but this boat well be there next year...I was hoping to have my Chris Craft custom sedan at thane next year but restoration costs were a little more then I could swing right now....so this boat was a filler for the time being...wish I woulda bought it earlier in the season

Most of the runabouts had upholstered ceiling panels from 1929 and up.

Kwmpa, don't place any bets on the blue. Just because it is old does not mean it was original. I remember talking to the past owner about it.

Brian thanks for the comment....i realize that it might be old but not original...i am in the antique vintage car restoration business we go through it all the time...I'm not crazy about the color of the interior or the bottom paint...I need to get Tony mollica's contact information and talk to him about this....I'd prefer it to be hunter green or navy blue... I want to go over the boat and change some small things to moe it my own....I don't want to do anything radical just some things if someone wanted to change they could....a 5200 bottom is in my future...but i recently found my grandfathers two Chris craft barrel backs and purchased them....i had my custom sedan sitting outside the shop and an old guy stopped by and said he had two old boats and if I was I interested stop by so I ran out on lunch with the hull numbers and checked them....so I keep falling backwards into things

Spanish maroon is what it most likely had. It is rich looking stuff in a Gar Wood.
