The 2011 Vintage Circuit - time to start planning & regi

Post by Bill John » Wed Feb 09, 2011 6:56 am

Winter is here in beautiful Wolfeboro and we are enjoying a very snowy and very
scenic Currier & Ives winter season. The temps are now well below freezing, we
have been hit with several huge snow storms recently, the ski resorts are in full
operation and our beloved vintage wooden boats are tucked away safe and sound,
sleeping in winter storage.

Annual Shop Christmas Gathering - lots of photos !!!
Thank you to all our friends for stopping by and making our annual Christmas Gathering
for 2010 another huge success. We cleaned up our shop pretty good, threw up some tinsel
and lights on the overhead hoist, and decorated our shop Christmas tree. Yup, we went all
out again this year, and Brian Small brought his annual Christmas ham that Hank Why just
inhaled. We all had a great time, with lots of great vintage banter and videos, and all food
donations were met with standing ovations. Here is the link for all the photos:

Special Vintage Events - you don't want to miss !!!

Tavares Vintage Race Boat Regatta - March 18-20, 2011
After many years of wanting to make the Mt Dora/Tavares ACBS boat show and many years
of excuses, last year we finally made the trek south to sunny and warm Tavares, Florida. We
hauled My Precious to participate at both the CRA Vintage Race Boat Regatta and then the
huge ACBS Boat Show the following weekend. The weather was sunny and warm, the vintage
race boats were beautiful and fast, and we had a great time. Many thanks to Dick Whyte and
the entire CRA crew for a fantastic vintage event. We had a great time and now Tavares in on
our annual schedule, so look for our NH Navy again at the Tavares Spring Fling in 2011 !!!

38th Annual ACBS Antique & Classic Boat Show - July 29-30, 2011
Our annual Antique & Classic Boat Show at the Meredith public docks is a huge gathering of
beautiful antique and classic wooden boats, with large crowds and over 80 vintage wooden
boats on display all day in a judged competition. This is quite a sight to behold, and for a
special treat get to the docks early on Saturday morning to watch and listen as the vintage
boats arrive under their own power. There will also be a large static display of vintage race
boats. The sights and sounds are magnificent, and to get an idea of the magnitude of this
gathering of wooden boats, please take a moment to view our photo album from last year's
show. As usual, the weather forecast for our 38th Annual Boat Show at Meredith will be
sunny and hot, as we fill the Meredith public docks with our beautiful vintage boats.
Here is the link for all the details.

Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat Regatta - Sept 14-17, 2011
The past will come alive as the vintage race boats of bygone eras return to Wolfeboro, for
our seventh bi-annual Wolfeboro Vintage Race Boat Regatta. Wolfeboro is now a major stop
on the APBA Vintage Race Boat Circuit, and this summer's regatta expands to 4 full days,
with over 60 vintage race boats running demonstration laps on a 1 mile oval course on beautiful
Wolfeboro Bay. In addition to seeing and hearing these unique and beautiful boats run, spectators
are invited to view them close-up in the pit area at the town docks between 9 and 4 on both
Friday and Saturday. This year our Wolfeboro vintage event is again scheduled for the weekend
after the Buffalo vintage regatta and as many of you know, our Wolfeboro vintage regatta is held
every other year, alternating with the Clayton. With our beloved NH Boat Museum providing the
support and volunteer base, Wolfeboro is well known for running on a tight, published regatta
heat schedule, running vintage heats every half hour for two full days. All the vintage race boats
are run at least twice a day, so if you wanna see lots of vintage race boats running some pretty
hot laps, you just gotta come to Wolfeboro in 2011 !!!
